2018 Goodreads Reading Challenge

As i posted in I Did It!!! And In Only Six Months!!!, i achieved my goal of reading twelve books this year – in fact by the end of 2017 my total books read was nineteen! Obviously the less screen time, more reading time before bed worked.

For this years challenge, i don’t want to get too ahead of myself so i have decided to up last years goal by three – so fifteen books in total. Hopefully i will be able to achieve this!

Good luck to everyone else attempting the challenge 😀

I Did It!!! And In Only Six Months!!!

Goodreads Reading Challenge 2017

Yep, that’s right! I completed the Goodreads Reading Challenge for 2017 and it’s only halfway through the year. I am SO stoked and really surprised. Obviously i have made reading a bit more of a priority as this is the first time i have achieved my goal. I’ll be interested to see how many more books i read before the end of the year.

Good luck to those who are still completing their challenges 🙂

And…I didn’t Quite Make It Again!

In 2016, i again attempted the Goodreads Reading Challenge. My goal was only 12 books, which works out at a book a month. I really, really thought i could achieve it this time and i was quite disappointed that i didn’t reach my goal and only managed to read 10 of the 12 books by the end of the year! However with an active toddler to look after, unfortunately there is not a lot of time for reading.

I have decided to attempt the challenge again this year, and have given myself the same goal of 12 books. I think i can achieve this as Kel and i have started a new year’s resolution of no screen time before bed and reading instead. Hopefully this year i will achieve my goal for once!

I’d love to be your friend on Goodreads so add me if you haven’t already 🙂

Didn’t Quite Make It – Again!

In 2015, i again attempted the Goodreads Reading Challenge. My goal was (again) 52 books, which works out at a book a week. I really thought i could achieve it this time and i was quite disappointed that i didn’t reach my goal and only managed to read 41 of the 52 books by the end of the year. That’s one less than the previous year! I think I’m more annoyed that even though i didn’t finish the challenge, i didn’t even improve on last year’s challenge. However, i did have a baby so i guess that is a good excuse!

I have decided to attempt the challenge again this year, and have given myself what i hope is a super realistic goal of 12 books (only a book a month!). Hopefully i will be able to accomplish that!

I’d love to be your friend on Goodreads so add me if you haven’t already 🙂

Didn’t Quite Make It

In 2014, i attempted the Goodreads Reading Challenge. My goal was 52 books, which works out at a book a week. I was quite disappointed that i didn’t reach my goal and only managed to read 44 of the 52 books by the end of the year. I have decided to attempt the challenge again this year, and have given myself the same goal of 52 books. Hopefully i will reach it this year! And I’d love to be your friend on Goodreads so add me if you haven’t already 🙂

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and all that jazz too 😉

0 of 1 People Found The Following Review Helpful

I have recently started uploading my reviews onto Amazon and Goodreads because i use both those sites. I had my first review found ‘unhelpful’ on Amazon. You know, “0 of 1 people found the following review helpful”. To be honest, i feel crushed. You might think it’s not a big deal, however i pride myself on being honest and fair. I’m not mean but i will be honest if there were things that i thought weren’t done very well. It certainly has taken me down a step. I think i’m also upset because every other review that was given on the book praised it without any faults. All of those reviews were found ‘helpful’. The one review (mine) that still praises the book and gave it four stars for goodness sake but actually pointed out some things i found could have been done better, gets the ‘unhelpful’ stamp on it. To me an unhelpful review are ones that say it’s bad without a valid reason.

I can’t imagine what a mean review would do to an author. It’s hard when a book isn’t up to scratch but i hope i’m never mean about it.

Anyway i’m feeling sad so if you have any stories to cheer me up i’d love to hear them.
