Didn’t Quite Make It

In 2014, i attempted the Goodreads Reading Challenge. My goal was 52 books, which works out at a book a week. I was quite disappointed that i didn’t reach my goal and only managed to read 44 of the 52 books by the end of the year. I have decided to attempt the challenge again this year, and have given myself the same goal of 52 books. Hopefully i will reach it this year! And I’d love to be your friend on Goodreads so add me if you haven’t already 🙂

I Have Returned…

Well I’m back. I have been for around two weeks now so I thought it was high time I posted my “I’m back post” so I can start posting normal stuff again!

Obviously we had an amazing time away and I would really like to share our trip with you all even though I only tend to post book related posts on here. However we have to go through all the photos yet (around 40GB) so stay tuned for that…

I didn’t read a huge number of books while I was away as I was obviously enjoying the sights etc. however I did read a small number that I’m looking forward to sharing my thoughts on.

I am also looking forward to connecting with you all again – I’ve started catching up on my blog reading so watch out for likes/comments on your posts from two months ago!

Charles Yallowitz was born and raised on Long Island, NY, but he has spent most of his life wandering his own imagination in a blissful haze. Red Clay and Roses Proceeds to go to The Russell Home for Atypical Children

All future proceeds from book sales of Red Clay and Roses will be donated to The Russell Home for Atypical Children. Most of my readers know that my mother died when I was age eight, I lived in foster homes, and then The Ethel Harpst Home for Children and Youth in Cedartown, GA.

For several weeks, I searched the Orlando area for a similar type children’s group home and found none. There is a thrift store run by The Russell Home near my daughter’s house. We shop there and always buy our Christmas trees from them. I got information from them and toured the facility last week.

Ideally, atypical children are best served in their own homes. I worked pediatric extended care for eight years as a registered nurse and know that there are some situations when that simply is not possible. Foster Homes for children with special needs are…

What’s the best thing about writing to you, Dear Reader? Is it getting great comments on your blogs? Having people praise your prose? Achieving mind blowing stats or sales? Getting great reviews for your efforts, fiction or non?

For me, it’s meeting readers.

Because I work hard to maintain a reader community. Readers are a mirror, a reflection of who we are. They help me know myself, to better understand who I am.

In Australia, we drove from Melbourne to Bermagui to meet Laura Gillies. For geographical perspective, that’s like driving from Charleston to Nashville. Or Charleston to Philadelphia. Maybe even Charleston to Miami.

It was a long day in the car.

But I wanted to hug the Australian woman who connected with Meriwether Lewis. On a wet winter night, we met at an upstairs pub, and we wiled the night away over Australian wines and cheeses. Just like every person…
